As long as you aren’t eating all your carbs for the day in one meal, in general it’s fine to just make the macros add up for the day and not necessarily at every meal. If you want to be precise, the only way to know is to enter what you are eating (with the amount) into a tracking tool so that you can get the nutrition info. That’s good to know, thank you. Heading poolside in 30 days and fully intend to live it up for a few days. 😀 I’m not worried about falling off the wagon permanently. I was very surprised at how easily I cut carbs, once I knew it was net, not total. I usually have 15+ of my 25 remaining at the end of the night. Intermittent fasting (IF) helps immensely with that – less snacking = less chance to slip up. I do 22 fasting and give myself 2 hours to get it all down the gullet. 😀

OK so I started this a week ago. Was going great BUT now I find out the carbs it calculated is for NET CARBS and not actual carbs? Is this correct? The aim is to find the level best suited for you. There are two ways to count carbs - you can either count total carbs or net carbs (net carbs are total carbs minus fibre). According to Volek and Phinney, you should not eat more than 50 grams of total carbs (25-30 grams of net carbs) on a ketogenic diet. If your aim is to lose weight or maintain a healthy weight, eating 20-30 grams of net carbs (up to 50 grams of total carbs) is a great way to start. I just started using Carbmanager.com … works great, put all my info in, it sets out the daily amount, then just log in as you go, be it on your desk top or your phone. I personally love it, and just actually paid the few bucks for 3 months premium membership for the extra tracking suck as glucose etc and recipes. I don’t think you will be disappointed if you try it. Even without the paid membership, the tracking log is still a great tool.
